This holiday is memorialized by the biblical story of Abraham almost sacrificing his only son to God but then God instructed him to sacrifice an animal instead. This holiday is worshipped around the world and celebrated by all Islamic people. The holiday last for four days and starts on September 11th and ends on September 14th. However, this year is a little different and started on the 12th of September instead. The supreme court of Saudi Arabia decided to start on the 12th because of the moon sighting which are how to dates to celebrate the holiday are confirmed. On the Islamic calendar, the holiday happens on the tenth day of the Dhu al-Hijjah lunar month, but there countries like Bangladesh have their own lunar calendar. Even though the festival only lasts for four days , the public holiday depends on what country is celebrating it. For example, Turkey's public holiday is a nine-day observation, Pakistan is three , and Bangladesh is six.
